Teen tries to jump over moving car and fails – (video link below)
The 19-year-old was trying to impress college recruiters with his athleticism
PALM BAY, Fla. — Police in central Florida say a 19-year-old is recovering after a botched attempt to jump over a moving car in Palm Bay.
Officials report that Bladimir Barreto was conscious and bleeding when he was flown to Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne after the Wednesday evening accident in serious condition. (November 24, 2012)
Police say Barreto was attempting the jump for a video to show his athletic prowess to college football recruiters. Barreto graduated from West Melbourne Christian Academy two years ago and played for the now defunct Brevard Grizzlies, an amateur football team. Palm Bay police spokeswoman Yvonne Martinez says he’s lucky his injuries weren’t worse. Police say Barreto was likely trying to simulate videos he’s seen on the Internet.
Barreto’s brother was filming as another brother drove the car he tried to jump over

A message from Karin Murphy: The Seth Foundation was founded because of the death of my 18 year-old son, Seth. I watched my son and my family struggle with his drug use for two years, starting with prescription drugs such as Soma and Oxycontin and ended with his use of Heroin. I want to help educate parents and especially kids on how dangerous drug use is. I would like to bring about awareness of the HUGE problem that no one wants to talk about.
